Cattle Egret and Dartford Warblers: a great day out in Suffolk!

The 'Last of the Summer Wine' crew assembled at my house at 7.00am: by 8.00 we were on the top of a somewhat windswept Dunwich Heath hoping the sun would hurry up and break through! A double walk around the circuit gave time for the clouds to part and all three of us enjoyed reasonable views of at least ten Dartfords. Other 'goodies' came in the form of lots of singing Woodlarks and a small herd of Red Deer.

A move to Minsmere wasn't very productive, but Island Mere did turn up a confiding Snipe and a Little Egret.

Last stop was at North Cove, where a longish walk over the railway line and along the river bank eventually provided us with views of the third different Cattle Egret of the winter, once again associating with Highland Cattle.
